Configure a dashboard
On a dashboard page, the "Dashboard configuration" button at the top right opens the dashboard configuration panel:
Edit dashboard information (Information tab)
The "Information" tab allows you to modify the general settings of the dashboard:
- Name: name of the dashboard.
- Description (optional): additional information about the dashboard.
- Time zone: time zone used to aggregate dashboard data.
- Default time range: time range displayed by default when the dashboard is opened from the Dashboards page. This can be an absolute time range (fixed dates) or relative to the current date.
- Default time step: no time displayed by default when the dashboard is opened from the Dashboards page.
- Define this dashboard as a template: allows the dashboard to be used as a template when creating a new dashboard from a template. Click the button to activate the option (the button turns blue). The dashboard will then appear in the "Templates" tab of the Dashboards page and can be used as a template.
- Font: the font used for dashboard content, and reports generated from it.
- Sharing: allows the dashboard to be made public and shared via a URL to people who are not users of the Energiency application. These people will be able to view the dashboard but not modify it. Click the button to activate the option (the button turns blue), then click "Copy link" to save the URL to your clipboard and then be able to paste it elsewhere.
Edit page layout (Page layout tab)
In the dashboard control panel, the "Layout" tab allows you to modify the layout options of the dashboard when it is exported as a PDF (manually, or in the case of an automatically generated report).
NB: when the dashboard is exported as a PDF file, it is then referred to as a Report.
The layout options are as follows:
-
Format: Shape and dimensions of the dashboard.
- Display: dashboard intended to be viewed on a screen.
- A4: dashboard intended to be exported as a PDF in A4 format. Pages can be oriented in Portrait or Landscape.
- Margins: PDF margins (in mm)
- Report language: language that will be applied to the text appearing automatically on the widgets (names of statistics, days of the week, month, date format, etc).
-
Footer: text that will appear at the bottom of each page of the report when exported in PDF format. It is possible not to have the footer appear on the first page, click on the
button to activate the "Hide footer on first page" option.
Creating variables (Variables tab)
The "Variables" tab allows you to define variables that can be used in the configuration of dashboard widgets. Changing the value of these variables automatically updates all the widgets that use it.
This feature is particularly useful when creating a new dashboard from a template, as you can then simply change the value of the variables to adapt a dashboard to a different context (different workshop, site, machine,...) without having to set up all the widgets again.
Click on the button to add a new variable. You can enter the following parameters:
-
Type: nature of the variable.
-
Counter: allows you to choose a meter and its data. Icon
.
-
Number: constant number. Icon
.
-
Text: character string. Icon
.
-
Counter: allows you to choose a meter and its data. Icon
- Name: name of the variable.
- Value: value of the variable, to be defined according to the Type of the variable.
NB: when a variable is created, it is then possible to modify its Name, its Value, but not its Type.
Once all the variables have been created, click "Save".
To rearrange the order of variables, click and hold the click on the icon that appears in the top-left corner of a variable, then drag the variable to the desired position, and release the click.
To view the meter used in a variable, click the button. A new browser tab will open and you will be redirected to the Meter details page.
To delete a variable, click the button, then click "Save".
Generate reports (Reports tab)
The "Reports" tab allows you to configure report generation, i.e. captures of the dashboard at regular intervals.
To enable automatic report generation, click the button to enable the "Generate reports automatically" option. The dashboard will then appear in the "Report templates" tab of the Dashboards page.
The following parameters can then be configured:
- Frequency: report generation frequency (daily, weekly, monthly, annually), with generation time.
- Time range: time period of the data displayed in each report. The end date of this period corresponds to the report generation date.
- Send after: it is possible to send the report by email after a certain delay. For example, to wait for data consolidation (if the data is sent to the application a little late), or to allow comments to be entered in the report before it is sent. The delay is applied at the time the report is generated.
At this level of the tab, a line of text summarises the report generation settings (example: "Create a report each day with 1 day of data sent at 16:00").
-
Destinaries: people to whom the report in PDF format will be automatically emailed.
- Users: people with a user account on the platform, who have already entered their email address.
- Emails: people who do not have a user account on the platform, for whom it is necessary to fill in the email address.
-
Advanced settings: click on the
button to activate the "Copy text from previous report" option. Comments added to the report before it is sent in PDF format will be retained when the next report is generated.
